Indonesian Police Launches 80 Free Buses for Mudik Lebaran 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - National Police Chief General, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, launched 80 free buses for the Polri Presisi Mudik program from Polda Metro Jaya Field, Jakarta on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. The program aims to help people return to their hometowns safely and comfortably.
The National Police Chief explained that the program provides 80 buses with two main destinations, Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region. A total of 4,009 people are using the free bus service.
"For this departure, there are 80 buses with 4,009 passengers. Registration started three days ago at samsat in each police station, and alhamdulillah, we collected 4,009 people in three days," he said to reporters.
The National Police Chief ensured that all buses have passed the ramp check and are fit for use. He also ensured that all drivers are in good health and not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Sigit said the Mudik Gratis Polri Presisi program is a manifestation of the state's presence to ensure people can return home safely, comfortably, and happily. This year's tagline is 'Mudik Aman, Keluarga Bahagia' (Safe Mudik, Happy Family).
The National Police Chief also reported that a total of 1.2 million vehicles have left Jakarta, with a 2.83% increase in toll road traffic compared to last year's Lebaran period. However, the accident rate has decreased by 40.91% or 682 cases compared to last year.
The National Police Chief advised all travellers to prioritize safety over speed and not to push themselves if they are tired. He also asked people to utilize the security and service posts along the mudik route.
