Government Plans a Fine Arts Exhibition Addressing Equality Issues

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Vice Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency /Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency), Irene Umar, discussed plans for the MARWAH Biennale, an art exhibition focusing on the work of Indonesian women artists. Irene Umar expressed her appreciation for the exhibition concept presented by the ARTPORA arts community.
"I am pleased with the spiritual aspect of the MARWAH Biennale concept. The Indonesian word 'Marwah' has a touch of spiritualism, a touch of Indonesia, a touch of authenticity, and the expression of these women," said Irene Umar while welcoming ARTPORA attendees at the Ministry of Creative Economy office in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
ARTPORA is a collective platform for artists in Jakarta who strive to strengthen the city's identity through art practices. Through the MARWAH Biennale initiative, the community aims to provide a space for creative dialogue for women artists while emphasizing their contribution to the development of Indonesian contemporary art.

The Vice Minister of Creative Economy also praised the exhibition, which combined spiritual values, cultural identity, and the artists' personal expressions. He stated that this approach is a crucial strength in building an authentic artistic narrative.
The MARWAH Biennale is designed as an exhibition showcasing the work of Indonesian women artists, highlighting issues of identity, equality, and the courage to express life experiences through art. The event is scheduled to take place from August 21 to September 4, 2026, at Pos Bloc Jakarta.
The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to collaborate with the arts community to strengthen the national art ecosystem and open up wider spaces for Indonesian women's creativity.
The audience was also attended by curator Evelyn Huang, ARTPORA Founder and Chief Executive of the MARWAH Biennale, Ravoluta S., and ARTPORA Founder and Technical Coordinator Eko Banding. The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Director of Fine Arts and Performing Arts, Dadam Mahdar.
