RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Creative Economy Ministry is spotlighting the nation’s cultural heritage in everyday spaces through a cross-sector collaboration between retail brand Pendopo and state-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI).
The initiative, unveiled at the Heritage on the Move event in Gambir Station on Wednesday, MArch 11, 2026, aims to bring Nusantara traditions into modern travel experiences.
“Culture is not static; it continues to move, evolve, and remain relevant to the dynamics of our time,” said the ministry's Deputy for Cultural Creativity and Design, Yuke Sri Rahayu, as quoted by Antara.
The collaboration features a Pendopo pop-up store inside Gambir Station, allowing travelers to encounter curated local creative products as part of their journeys. Yuke emphasized that such initiatives demonstrate how cultural heritage can be integrated into daily life, enriching both tourism and national identity.
By pairing KAI’s role as a symbol of connectivity with Indonesia’s rich textile (wastra) traditions, the partnership also seeks to expand market access for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), strengthen cultural identity, and foster inclusive, sustainable growth in the creative economy.
“This is tangible proof that the creative economy can thrive through experience, innovation, and narratives aligned with public needs,” Yuke noted, adding that curated showcases of local products highlight Indonesia’s cultural wealth as globally competitive, transcending space and time.
Looking ahead, Yuke expressed hope that cultural heritage will continue to serve as a source of strength for future generations, remaining alive and relevant in today’s society. ***
