Denpasar-Timor-Leste Explore Cooperation in Tourism and Creative Economy

RRI.CO.ID, Denpasar - The Denpasar City Administration in Bali has initiated discussions with the Government of Timor-Leste to explore strategic partnerships spanning the creative economy, tourism, trade, industry, culture, and education.
The initial diplomatic approach was established during an official meeting between Denpasar Depputy Mayor I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa and Apolo Justino Franca da Silva, Commercial and Industrial Attaché at the Consulate General of Timor-Leste in Denpasar, at the Denpasar Mayor's Office on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
Deputy Mayor Arya Wibawa emphasized that Denpasar is actively pursuing bilateral and inter-city relationships worldwide to bolster regional development and expand its international network.
"Currently, the Denpasar City Administration is focusing on exploring cooperation with various global partners and cities as part of Denpasar's strategic expansion, we hope this initial dialogue with Timor-Leste leads to concrete agreements, particularly within creative economy, business, cultural, and educational sectors where both sides share significant mutual potential." Arya Wibawa said, as quoted by Antara.
Echoing this optimism, Commercial Attaché Apolo Justino Franca da Silva expressed appreciation for Denpasar’s receptive stance toward building mutually beneficial economic ties.
"We extend our gratitude for the warm welcome from the Deputy Mayor. We highly appreciate the Denpasar City Administration's proactive steps toward establishing formal cooperation with our nation," Apolo said.
Apolo added that continued communication and technical coordination between both delegations will be vital to translating these initial talks into tangible joint ventures that deliver economic benefits for both Denpasar and Timor-Leste.
The strategic meeting was also attended by Assistant Commercial Attaché Ricardo de Araujo and diplomatic representative Theresia Nur Hayati, as both parties mapped out initial frameworks for future bilateral agreements. ***
