RRI.CO.ID, Jember - The Jember Regency administration in East Java is aiming to expand its international network after welcoming an official delegation from Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, China, to explore a strategic sister city cooperation model. The diplomatic visit, hosted at the Pendapa Wahyawibawagraha hall on Tuesday night, June 2, 2026, marks a significant milestone for the region as it seeks to boost foreign investment, trade, and cross-cultural exchanges.

The formal exploration focuses on creating mutually beneficial ties across multiple high-priority sectors, including economic development, trade, education, public healthcare, and modern waste management infrastructure. Jember authorities plan to present the regency's diverse local potential, spanning regional investments, educational institutions, cultural arts, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to the international stage.

"The visit of the Jinhua City delegation tonight is an important momentum in strengthening friendly relations and opening up opportunities for strategic cooperation between the two regions," Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait said during the welcoming reception at the Pendapa on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

To capitalize on the partnership, the Jember Regency administration has pledged to ensure absolute security and political stability for incoming foreign investors. Regent Fawait emphasized that his administration is fully committed to streamlining bureaucratic processes and easing licensing for external investments that promise to enrich both cities, while carefully assessing which high-quality Jember products can be successfully exported directly to Jinhua.

"We are ready to collaborate for mutual benefit, and of course, we must emphasize that it will bring prosperity to the people of Jember," the Regent asserted, reinforcing the state's focus on driving regional public welfare through productive international relations.

The prospective partnership received a highly positive response from the Chinese delegation. Vice Chairman of the Jinhua Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Yang Jianming announced that his city is actively opening up commercial pathways for Jember’s primary agricultural commodities, specifically targeting its renowned local coffee and cocoa.

"Coffee and cocoa products fit the characteristics of Yiwu City in Jinhua as the world's largest commodity distribution center, so Jember products have the opportunity to be marketed there," Yang Jianming explained, referencing Yiwu's status, a county-level city under Jinhua's jurisdiction, as the world's premier commodity distribution hub.

To honor the visiting delegation and display the region's rich artistic identity, the Jember Regency administration organized an immersive cultural welcoming ceremony at the Pendapa Wahyawibawagraha.

The Chinese dignitaries were greeted by dynamic live performances featuring costumed talents from the globally acclaimed Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) alongside the energetic rhythms of musik patrol, a traditional Jember percussion ensemble that embodies local solidarity and community spirit.

The cultural display successfully showcased the vibrant creative economy of Jember, setting a collaborative and friendly tone for the upcoming sister-city negotiations. Local authorities hope that this initial dialogue will establish a sustainable, long-term avenue for economic growth, technological transfer, and cultural appreciation between East Java and Zhejiang Province. ***
