RRI.CO.ID, Jayapura - State-run electricity company PT PLN Papua and West Papua continue to build a modern electricity ecosystem as part of its push to promote an “electrifying lifestyle” among local communities.**

General Manager Roberth Rumsaur explained that the electrifying lifestyle reflects a modern way of living, encouraging people to adopt electric-powered appliances and vehicles to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

“Papua’s communities can begin applying this lifestyle in daily routines by using electric-based devices such as induction stoves, rice cookers, ovens, air fryers, and electric vehicles,” Roberth said in Jayapura on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

He emphasized that electrifying lifestyle is not merely a trend but a strategic step to support development and improve welfare in Papua. The use of electricity, he added, opens opportunities for economic growth, helping farmers and fishers add value to their products through technology.

“Electric energy makes businesses more efficient and productive,” he noted, adding that the transition also reduces carbon emissions and helps preserve Papua’s natural environment.

PLN has ensured that infrastructure in Papua and West Papua is ready to support this shift. Together with partners, the company has established 39 public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) across the region, including Jayapura, Wamena, Biak, Timika, Merauke, Manokwari, and Sorong.

“All SPKLU units are integrated with the PLN Mobile app, making it easier for users to locate charging stations and recharge independently,” Roberth said. (Diva Rifdah)
