RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The immigration authorities in Bali say their latest patrol has reinforced efforts to safeguard tourism and public order, after 62 foreign nationals were detained during Operation Dharma Dewata between April 15 and May 4, 2026
Head of Bali Regional Office of the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, announced the results of the raid at a press briefing in Denpasar on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
“If no criminal elements are found, we will proceed with deportation. But if evidence of a crime emerges, we will coordinate with the police,” she said, as quoted by Antara.
The detainees are currently under investigation and held in immigration detention facilities. They were apprehended for violating Article 75(1) of Indonesia’s Immigration Law, which covers activities deemed dangerous, disruptive to public order, or disrespectful of national regulations.
Operation Dharma Dewata targeted vulnerable areas across Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, and Singaraja. Offenses included overstaying visas, submitting false data to obtain permits, working without authorization, fraudulent investment schemes, and disturbing community order.
While Ratna declined to disclose the nationalities of those detained, citing diplomatic sensitivities, she confirmed that all will be subject to deportation and entry bans determined by the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta.
She emphasized that the patrol was not only about enforcement but also education, particularly for minor violations. “This effort helps protect Bali’s tourism reputation and ensures that only foreign nationals who respect local values and contribute positively are welcomed,” Ratna said.
The operation, carried out independently by Bali’s immigration units, is considered effective in maintaining security, supporting the local economy, and preserving a healthy investment climate. Ratna said monitoring of foreign nationals will continue beyond the patrol as part of daily immigration oversight. ***
