RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - Indonesia is positioning education at the center of its new capital, Nusantara, as part of a long-term vision to build an inclusive and globally competitive city. Marking National Education Day, the government reaffirmed that human development will be equally vital to physical infrastructure in shaping the nation’s future.

Special Staff to the Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority for Public Communication and official spokesperson, Troy Pantouw, emphasized that education in Nusantara is designed as a core social foundation during a youth forum on Friday, 1 May 2026. “Through the development of competent and character-driven human resources, Nusantara is envisioned as an inclusive and sustainable world city,” he said.

The education system is being structured to progress alongside students’ growth, from early childhood to higher education. Each stage is tailored to build not only knowledge, but also critical thinking, leadership, and practical skills.

In early education, the focus lies on self-management and foundational reasoning, while primary and secondary levels emphasize exploration, literacy, and leadership development. At the upper levels, vocational pathways and higher education institutions are expected to connect students directly with innovation, research, and the future workforce.

Beyond curriculum, Nusantara promotes a philosophy of human-centered learning that prioritizes flexibility and personal development. Students are encouraged to unleash their full potential through an approach that balances academic excellence with character and creativity.

Technology will play a key role in shaping this ecosystem, with smart schools and digital systems supporting modern, efficient learning environments. These innovations aim to strengthen analytical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills among students.

Sustainability is also embedded in the education model, with green school concepts that integrate renewable energy, water management, and responsible resource use. This reflects Indonesia’s broader ambition to align development with environmental responsibility.

Deputy for Social, Cultural, and Community Development at the Nusantara Capital Authority, Alimuddin, highlighted the long-term impact of education on the city’s identity. “Education development is the core of Nusantara’s social infrastructure and will shape the face of this city over the next 20 to 30 years,” he stated.

Looking ahead, Nusantara aims to attract leading national and international institutions to build a dynamic education hub. With this approach, Indonesia is positioning its new capital not just as a center of governance, but as a global model for future-ready education.
