RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The National Police Medical Center (Pusdokkes Polri) at Bhayangkara Hospital received the bodies of 10 victims from the Bekasi train crash at 3 a.m. Jakarta time, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. As of the afternoon, the identification process was still underway to confirm the victims’ identities.

Head of Bhayangkara Hospital, Brig. Gen. Prima Heru Yulihartono, expressed condolences to the families. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of all the victims of the train crash in Bekasi,” he said at the hospital in Jakarta on April 28, 2026.

Prima Heru confirmed that all of the victims were female. Seven families had reported their loss to the Antemortem Post.

The identification process involves police officers and forensic teams, with support from the National Police Identification Center, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, and related agencies. “We are working to expedite the identification process for the victims,” he said.

Identification is carried out by matching antemortem and postmortem data, followed by reconciliation to ensure consistency. Families who have not yet reported their loved ones are urged to come to the antemortem station at the National Police Hospital and bring supporting documents, such as dental records, identification, or fingerprint data.

“There are several bodies whose identities were not immediately apparent during the initial examination. We are investigating this further,” Prima Heru explained. He added that most of the bodies remain in condition suitable for identification, though some sustained damage requiring further examination. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
