RRI.CO.ID, Banyumas – President Prabowo Subianto visited the Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) BLE Kaliori in Kalibagor subdistrict, Banyumas regency, Central Java, on Tuesday afternoon, April 28, 2026.

During the visit, the president observed firsthand the waste management system applied in Banyumas. The facility is known for processing waste into useful products such as roof tiles and paving blocks.

President Prabowo expressed optimism that Indonesia’s waste management could be brought under control within the next two to three years. He stressed that waste processing has become a national priority. “Waste management is a national priority. Within two to three years, we must be able to control it,” he said.

The President added that effective waste management would not only improve environmental cleanliness but also enhance the appeal of Indonesia’s tourism sector. “We will restore Indonesia’s beauty, making it a comfortable and attractive tourism destination,” he said.

Banyumas Regent Sadewo Tri Lastiono noted that the regency has received support from the central government to develop its waste processing system. He said the model applied in Banyumas is expected to be replicated in other regions.

He outlined plans to expand facilities, targeting the addition of 15 TPST units with a daily capacity of 10 tons each. “By 2028, we are optimistic Banyumas can achieve zero waste to landfill,” Sadewo said.

Beyond producing Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), the new facilities are also expected to generate other derivative products, such as plastic‑based floor pallets.

The president’s visit is expected to strengthen the commitment of both the central government and the regional administration to advancing sustainable waste management. The initiative aims not only to reduce environmental impact but also to create economic value for local communities. (Lasti Martina/Sri Wahyuni)
