Dumai Wins National Award for Reducing Unemployment

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Dumai City Government in Riau has once again achieved national recognition, winning third place in the Unemployment Rate Reduction category at the 2026 Regional Government Achievement Appreciation Awards.

The award was received directly by Dumai Mayor Paisal from the Secretary General of Indonesia’s Ministry of Home Affairs, Police Commissioner General Tomsi Tohir, in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Saturday.

This achievement reflects the success of the local government’s programs in promoting workforce absorption and strengthening a more inclusive and sustainable employment ecosystem.

“Alhamdulillah, this award is the result of our collective hard work in creating a better employment ecosystem in Dumai,” Paisal said, as quoted by infopublik.id, an official news portal that provides information about programs, policies, and activities of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, on Monday, April 27, 2026.

The appreciation event, initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs, serves as both an evaluation instrument and a source of motivation for regional governments to improve development performance, particularly in strategic sectors such as employment, inflation control, poverty and stunting reduction, and regional financing innovation.

The Dumai Mayor emphasized that the achievement could not have been realized without the support of all elements of society and the cross-sector synergy that the local government continues to strengthen.

He also underlined the importance of maintaining regional stability as a key supporting factor in attracting investment and creating new job opportunities.

“We urge all members of the community to continue maintaining a conducive environment in our region. If Dumai remains safe and conducive, investors will certainly feel comfortable and be interested in investing here. This will automatically create more new job opportunities and have a broad impact on the welfare of the people of Dumai,” he conveyed.

The Dumai City Government is committed to continuing to strengthen development programs that have a direct impact on improving public welfare, particularly through job creation and the strengthening of the regional economy.
