RRI.CO.ID, Meulaboh - Immigration officers at the Meulaboh Class II Non-TPI Office in West Aceh Regency, Aceh, have detained a 62-year-old Malaysian national during a coordinated enforcement effort known as Operation Wirawaspada. The individual, identified by the initials MLT, was apprehended in the Babahrot Subdistrict of Southwest Aceh Regency.

"As of Tuesday, the foreign national is still undergoing intensive examination at the local immigration office," said Head of the Meulaboh Immigration Office, Nicky Avry Muchelly on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The arrest is part of a larger, nationwide initiative to tighten the monitoring of foreign residents across Indonesia.

The primary reason for the detention was a significant violation of stay permits, as investigations revealed that MLT had overstayed in Indonesia for 237 days. This enforcement action falls within the regional scope of the operation, which focuses on the Meulaboh jurisdiction covering the regencies of West Aceh, Southwest Aceh, and Nagan Raya.

Regarding the execution of these duties, officials emphasized their commitment to professional conduct, ensuring that while the law is strictly enforced, all activities are carried out humanely and in accordance with legal and humanitarian principles.

The Meulaboh Immigration Office has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining optimal and continuous immigration surveillance. Nicky emphasized that any indications of permit violations will be followed up in accordance with prevailing laws to safeguard the country's sovereignty and regional stability.

The detention was triggered by a major stay permit violation, specifically an overstay of 237 days, which was uncovered during routine regional monitoring. This enforcement is part of Operation Wirawaspada, a nationwide initiative designed to enhance immigration oversight and maintain public order across all jurisdictions.

Furthermore, the authorities are conducting an intensive examination to determine the full extent of the individual's activities during their illegal stay. This proactive approach underscores the administration’s resolve to enforce strict legal compliance while ensuring that all immigration procedures remain professional and aligned with humanitarian standards. ***
