RRI.CO.ID, Manado - The Class II TPI Bitung Immigration Office in North Sulawesi has detained two Chinese nationals, identified by the initials PL and LA, for suspected immigration violations. The apprehension took place on Monday, April 13, 2026, as part of "Operation Wirawaspada," a strategic national initiative aimed at ensuring foreign compliance with Indonesian residency laws.

The Head of the North Sulawesi Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ramdhani, said that the operation is a preventative and repressive measure designed to maintain regional stability and public order. Acting on intelligence analysis, the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement (Inteldakim) team conducted targeted inspections of several companies within Bitung’s jurisdiction.

"The examination focused on the presence, activities, and the completeness of immigration documents held by these foreign nationals," Ramdhani explained as quoted by Antara.

According to the investigation, the two individuals had entered Indonesia using a Visa on Arrival (VoA) with a B1 index. However, they are suspected of violating the terms of their stay by engaging in activities inconsistent with a tourist or visitation permit, a breach of Law No. 6/2011 concerning Immigration.

Following their detention, the two individuals were transported to the Class II TPI Bitung Immigration Office for further intensive questioning. Authorities emphasized that the examination process is being conducted professionally and with full respect for human rights.

Bitung Immigration has pledged to continue its rigorous monitoring of foreign nationals to prevent stay permit abuse and ensure a safe, conducive environment across North Sulawesi. ***
