RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) has officially received the joint bid from Banten and Lampung to host the 23rd National Sports Week (PON) in 2032. The submission of candidacy documents took place at KONI headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

KONI General Chair Marciano Norman accepted the proposal directly from Banten KONI Chair Agus Rasyid and Lampung KONI Chair Taufik Hidayat. He expressed appreciation to the provincial administrations, particularly the governors of both provinces, for their support in the candidacy process.

Taufik Hidayat said Lampung had prepared nearly all of the requirements set by KONI. “Sixteen requirements have been completed, and one more is in process. We expect to finalize it today,” he said.

The documents will be reviewed by KONI’s Screening and Selection Team (TPP) as part of the evaluation process. KONI Deputy Chair Suwarno explained that the submission deadline has been moved up from May 1 to April 1, 2026, to accommodate the upcoming KONI National Working Meeting (Rakernas) in May. He added that site visitations are targeted for April.

Marciano emphasized that the evaluation will prioritize venues' readiness for Olympic sports. He also stressed that new venue construction will not use the National Budget (APBN). “Visitation will prioritize Olympic sports venues, and there will be no new venue construction funded by the APBN. All must be built through the Regional Budget (APBD),” he said.

The results of the screening process are expected to be discussed at the 2026 KONI Rakernas. An Extraordinary National Sports Deliberation (Musornaslub) will then be convened to officially determine the host of PON XXIII in 2032. ***
