RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang Regency - An investigation by the Banten Provincial Environment and Forestry Agency into the discoloration of the Cisadane River water led to the sealing of three unlicensed industries in Teluknaga Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency, Banten Province.
“There are three companies or industries that we have sealed because they do not have permits,” said Head of the Banten Provincial Environment and Forestry Agency, Wawan Gunawan, in Tangerang on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.
He explained that the sealing was carried out after the investigation confirmed suspicions of industrial waste pollution as the cause of the river’s color change.
“Going forward, for companies that do not have permits, we will follow up and take direct action in accordance with the applicable regulations,” said Wawan, as quoted by Antara.
Head of Supervision and Control Section of the Tangerang Regency Provincial Environment and Forestry Agency, Sandy Nugraha, revealed that the three companies operate in different industrial sectors. The three business lines include plastic recycling, ingot or aluminum smelting, and laundry washing of jeans pants.
“The sealed companies are three in number because they do not have permits. All three are located in Kampung Melayu Barat Village, Teluknaga Subdistrict,” he said.
He said the plastic recycling and jeans laundry companies were proven to have polluted the Cisadane River because they did not have a proper Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL).
“Therefore, we sealed them immediately. For certainty regarding the pollution, the two companies, namely plastic recycling and laundry, have been proven, while the ingot smelting company is still being investigated further,” said Wawan. ***
