RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - The spirit of Ramadan has begun to be felt in Indonesia’s future capital, Nusantara. Thousands of worshippers from across East Kalimantan gathered at the State Mosque of IKN for the first Tarawih prayer of 1 Ramadan 1447 H on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

The large attendance marked an important moment as the mosque served as a center of worship and unity. People from different backgrounds came together to welcome the holy month.

The first Tarawih prayer became a meaningful step in fostering spiritual community in Nusantara. The evening also included a religious sermon encouraging Muslims to begin Ramadan with sincere intentions and pure hearts.

A preacher from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of East Kalimantan, Ustad Irfan Rosady, in his sermon, reminded the congregation about the importance of intention in both life and worship. He said that sincere intentions help guide people away from wrongdoing and toward dignity.

“Let us correct our intentions. If we are wrong in the way we live and worship, we may fall into humiliation. Therefore, we must strengthen and straighten our intentions in observing Ramadan," he said.

One worshipper, Shakira, a resident of Sepaku, shared her excitement about praying at the State Mosque. She said she was impressed by the beauty and majestic design of the mosque.

“I am very enthusiastic to worship at the State Mosque. I did not expect the national mosque to be this magnificent,” she said.

The first Tarawih prayer not only marked the start of Ramadan activities, but also strengthened the mosque’s role as a spiritual and social gathering place. It reflects the growing community life in Indonesia’s new capital.
