RRI.CO.ID, Singaraja – The Buleleng Regency Administration in Bali, continues to accelerate its "Sustainable Waste-Free Buleleng" program by targeting coastal areas. This synchronized marine debris cleanup was carried out across several coastal points in Buleleng on Friday, February 6, 2026.

The initiative involved members of the Indonesian Military, National Police, village officials, environmental communities, and coastal residents. At least six locations were targeted in the cleanup, including the Old Buleleng Port area, Penarukan Beach, Lovina Beach, Camplung Beach, and Pantai Indah.

The coastal cleanup was led directly by the Deputy Regent of Buleleng, Gede Supriatna. Hundreds of participants worked collaboratively to remove various types of waste, ranging from plastic debris and driftwood to other waste materials washed ashore by ocean currents.

Gede Supriatna remarked that the activity aims not only to clean the environment, but also to serve as an educational platform to increase public awareness regarding the importance of maintaining marine ecosystems.

"This activity is one of the Buleleng Regency Administration’s sustainable programs. It also serves as an educational tool for environmental awareness for all of us," remarked Supriatna on Friday.

He emphasized that these environmental cleanup actions, routinely held every Friday in Buleleng Regency, will be further intensified. Moving forward, the initiative will expand to cover all coastal areas as a manifestation of the local administration’s commitment to supporting sustainable environmental preservation.

Meanwhile, at a separate location on Penarukan Beach, the Head of General Services for Penarukan Village, I Gusti Putu Utara, also called upon all elements of society to maintain the cleanliness and sustainability of the coast.

"The cleanliness and comfort of the coastal environment are a shared responsibility. Therefore, collective awareness is required to safeguard our environment," he said.

Through the Sustainable Buleleng Clean and Waste Program, the administration expressed its hope to create a clean, healthy, and sustainable coastal environment. This effort is expected to support the tourism sector while simultaneously improving the well-being of coastal communities. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
