RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Jakarta Province Governor, Pramono Anung, has officially extended the Remote Learning and Work From Home (WFH) policies until February 1, 2026. This decision follows forecasts of continued high rainfall, which poses a significant risk of flooding across various sectors of the capital.

Governor Pramono remarked that the extension is based on technical analysis from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), which predicts that extreme weather conditions will persist over the coming days.

"Based on BMKG's findings, rainfall is likely to remain high through February 1. Consequently, I have decided that remote learning and work-from-home arrangements will remain in effect until that date," Governor Pramono announced in Jakarta on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

According to the Governor, the extension is a preemptive measure to reduce public mobility and minimize the risks associated with flooding and extreme weather.

In addition to mobility restrictions, the Jakarta Provincial Administration is implementing Weather Modification Operations (WMO) to mitigate rainfall intensity over the Greater Jakarta area. The Governor noted that these operations will continue if weather conditions remain critical.

"I have authorized the WMO wherever necessary. Given the likelihood of continued high rainfall, including today, where operations have been underway since this morning, we are staying proactive," he said.

Governor Pramono reassured the public that the WMO process is grounded in scientific research and utilizes materials that are safe for both the environment and public health. He urged citizens not to be concerned about the frequency of these operations.

"The WMO is a scientific process, and the materials selected are non-hazardous," he affirmed.

The Jakarta Provincial Administration remains in constant coordination with relevant agencies to monitor weather developments and flood conditions. These efforts are aimed at minimizing the impact of the current extreme weather cycle. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
