Search Continues for Landslide Victims in West Bandung

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Rescue teams pressed on with efforts Monday, January 26, 2026, to locate 65 people still missing after a devastating landslide buried Pasir Kuning hamlet in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua Subdistrict, West Bandung Regency, West Java.

Director of Operations at the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Yudhi Bramantyo, said nine excavators and seven water pumps were deployed to assist in the third day of operations.

“Today we continue as before, mobilizing nine heavy machines and seven water pumps to support the search,” Yudhi explained in Bandung, as quoted by Antara.

He noted that nearly 1,000 personnel from various agencies have been involved in the mission so far. In addition, 12 K-9 dogs, provided jointly by the police and the Semarang SAR Office, were brought in to strengthen the search.

The operation remains divided into two main sectors: Sector A on the eastern side and Sector B on the western side, which are further broken down into smaller areas to intensify the search.

Meanwhile, West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman reported that 25 body bags had been recovered, with 17 victims identified and returned to their families. The remaining victims are still undergoing identification.

Among those identified are Suryana (57), Jajang Tarta (35), Dadang Apung (60), Nining (40), Nurhayati (42), Lina Lismayanti (43), A.I. Sumarni (35), Koswara (40), Koswara (26), and Ayu Yuniarti (31). Another victim, M. Kori (30), was identified through a severed hand. ***
