RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) is currently spearheading flood response efforts and the distribution of essential supplies across various subdistricts in Jakarta as of Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The operation follows a period of intense rainfall that began on Thursday, January 22, which ultimately impacted 20 villages across six subdistricts.

These measures were prioritized to ensure the welfare of 1,623 residents currently taking refuge in shelters, with the agency coordinating localized relief teams to provide food, water, and medical aid to those displaced by the rising waters.

"At least 585 families or 1,623 individuals have been forced to evacuate to several evacuation locations," Head of BNPB's Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said as quoted by Antara.

He detailed that in East Jakarta, evacuees are staying at different locations including the Al Islah Mushala, Community Unit (RW) 03 Tennis Court, Bidara Cina Village Hall, Al Abror Mosque, and state-run Kampung Melayu Elementary Schools 01 and 02.

In West Jakarta, evacuation centers are active in four villages of Rawa Buaya, South Kembangan, North Kembangan, and Duri Kosambi. These shelters utilize mosques, community halls, and elementary schools, with the highest number of refugees recorded at state-run Rawa Buaya Elementary School 07 and other nearby school facilities.

In North Jakarta, residents are taking refuge at Nurul Jannah Mosque in Kapuk Muara Village. "The basic needs of the evacuees are also ensured to be met during their stay at the evacuation sites, including ready-to-eat food, clean water, clothing, sanitation services, and other necessities," he stated.

Reports from the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) on Sunday morning, January 25, 2026, show signs of improvement. While waters have receded in areas like Cililitan and Kembangan, 14 neighborhood units (RT) in East and North Jakarta remain inundated with water levels ranging from 30 to 80 centimeters.

The highest flood levels were observed in Kampung Melayu Village, where overflowing Ciliwung River caused water to reach depths of 80 centimeters in surrounding residential areas.
