Plaosan Temple Completed with New Facilities

RRI.CO.ID, Klaten - Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon inaugurated the Plaosan temple site management in Klaten Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Head of Museums and Cultural Heritage, Indira Estianti Nurjadin, and Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo were also present.
Minister Fadli Zon expressed his delight that the first phase of renovation of Plaosan Temple, including the completion of supporting facilities such as the entrance, parking area, and restrooms. These facilities are considered crucial for supporting visitors to Plaosan Temple.
"Plaosan Temple is located in a neighborhood close to Prambanan Temple, Ratu Boko Temple, Sewu Temple, and several other temples. We hope this will become a broader destination and attract more visitors," said Minister of Culture Fadli Zon.
He also mentioned the existence of Plaosan Temple, built in the 8th century AD, during the Ancient Mataram era. This temple is considered an extraordinary ancestral heritage. The Ministry of Culture is here to protect it and, in accordance with the constitutional mandate, to develop, utilize, and foster cultural heritage.
"So that the existing cultural heritage, including Plaosan Temple, can continue to thrive and benefit the surrounding community and Indonesian society in general," he said.
Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo said that Plaosan Temple, once completed in its first phase of development, will become an icon of Indonesia and the world. Plaosan Temple is unique in that it still boasts a strong blend of Hinduism and Buddhism.
"Plaosan Temple, once enjoyed only by the people of Klaten, with this development, God willing, will become an icon of Indonesia and the world. This is because it has a unique feature that no other temple has: the blend of Hinduism and Buddhism, which, thank God, is still intact," Hamenang said.
He expressed his hope that the second phase of development of the Plaosan Temple area will continue this year, further enhancing the area and attracting more tourists.
