RRI.CO.ID, Semarang – The Semarang City Administration in Central Java has successfully maintained controlled stunting rates while ensuring comprehensive health insurance coverage for all residents.

According to data from the Semarang City Health Agency as of the December 2025 cut-off, the stunting prevalence in the city was recorded at 4.27%, affecting 2,593 toddlers. This figure results from strengthened maternal and child health services, systematic developmental monitoring, and massive nutritional education at the family level.

The Mayor of Semarang, Agustina Wilujeng, emphasized that these achievements reflect the administration’s commitment to ensuring no resident is left behind in accessing healthcare. She conveyed that strengthening the health sector is a long-term investment in the community's quality of life.

"Protecting the health of our residents is the primary foundation for Semarang City's development. Our efforts in stunting control and achieving 100% Universal Health Coverage (UHC) demonstrate that our health policies are directed to truly address community needs, especially from an early age," she remarked on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

Mayor Agustina asserted that the Semarang City Administration ensures health policies are not merely figures on paper but are tangibly present in the daily lives of citizens. "The goal is clear, which is to ensure every citizen of Semarang has the opportunity to grow up healthy and lead a more productive life," she added.

According to her, the success in stunting control and the realization of 100% UHC align with Semarang's health sector priorities, which focus on prevention, equitable service distribution, and social protection. Consequently, she remains optimistic that with a strong healthcare foundation, the quality of human resources in Semarang will continue to improve sustainably. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
