KBRN, Pariaman: Recovery efforts following floods and landslides caused by Tropical Cyclone Senyar in northern Sumatra are being accelerated. This includes the construction of four emergency bridges currently being built by the Indonesian Army in West Sumatra.

One of the bridges is a Bailey bridge in 2x11 Kayu Tanam District, Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra. Platoon Commander of the Army Combat Engineers Unit of Prabumulih, South Sumatra, Sec. Lt. Muhammad Asri Lubis, said that a total of 75 personnel from Padang Pariaman and Prabumulih were deployed to construct the bridge.

“We received orders to construct in the area of Kayu Tanam, Nagari (village) of Kayu Tanam, 2x11 Kayu Tanam District, Padang Pariaman. As for personnel, we have 25 troops, supported by an additional 50 personnel (from Kayu Tanam)," he said, according to Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Sunday (14/12/2025).

The bridge 30-meter-long, 3.9-meter-wide bridge can support 20 tons. It is built to replace the Padang Mantuang bridge, which collapsed due to flooding.

"The bridge... is targeted to be completed and operational starting Tuesday (16/12/2025)," the agency said.

Similar Bailey bridges are under construction elsewhere in West Sumatra. Those are the Sikabau Bridge in West Pasaman Regency, as well as the Supayang and Bawah Kubang Bridges in Solok Regency.
