RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - World Tourism Day on 27 September served as a moment for the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism to consolidate cross-sector collaboration. Recognizing that tourism success cannot stand alone, the government partnered with industry players, academics, communities, and the public through the publishing of the Indonesia Tourism Outlook 2026/2027 to build a more resilient and sustainable national tourism sector.

“Heading into next year, we must move toward stronger growth. For this reason, the Indonesia Tourism Outlook serves as a shared compass for reading changes, recognizing opportunities, and anticipating risks,” said Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday, 28 September 2026.

She conveyed that the Indonesia Tourism Outlook 2026/2027 document was prepared by incorporating expert perspectives through an expert survey. In addition, its compilation involved direct interviews with business actors and partners of the Ministry of Tourism’s flagship programs.

This approach is expected to align policy perspectives with industry developments and needs. The Outlook not only captures the current state of tourism but also outlines opportunities, challenges, and priorities that require attention in the future development of Indonesian tourism.

The presence of the Indonesia Tourism Outlook 2026/2027 is expected to strengthen government policy formulation while serving as a strategic reference for national industry players. This step is also aimed at tightening cross-sector collaboration to build Indonesian tourism that is resilient, high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable.

As reported by Antara, the Minister noted that Indonesia’s tourism performance continues to show a positive trend that needs to be maintained. This is evidenced by foreign tourist arrivals in the January–July 2026 period, which reached 8.98 million, up 5.23 percent compared to the previous year.

She emphasized that collaboration among stakeholders is now increasingly important, as the success of tourism development is not determined solely by the government, but also requires the involvement of industry, academics, communities, and the public.

Strong competitiveness must be balanced with efforts to improve the quality of tourism growth. Therefore, future growth is expected to rely not only on visitor numbers but also to deliver quality experiences and economic added value for communities.

The launch of the Indonesia Tourism Outlook 2026/2027 coincided with World Tourism Day on Sunday, September 27, 2026. This timing was chosen as an opportunity to reflect on the journey of the tourism sector while preparing future steps amid an ever-changing global landscape.

“With the spirit of World Tourism Day, may this document strengthen our policy foundations, serve as a reference for industry players, and tighten our collaboration,” said Minister Widiyanti. ***
