RRI.CO.ID, Taipei - The Wonderful Indonesia Sales Mission stood out as the principal centerpiece of Indonesia's regional marketing strategy in East Asia, as the Ministry of Tourism convened a major trade event in Taipei on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Designed as a flagship business-to-business (B2B) platform to penetrate Taiwan's expanding outbound travel sector, the mission brought together 21 elite Indonesian tourism sellers, comprising tour operators, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), and luxury hospitality providers, with over 49 prominent Taiwanese travel buyers.
Executed in strategic collaboration with the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office (KDEI) in Taipei, the Indonesia Inbound Tour Operators Association (IINTOA), and STARLUX Airlines, the event showcased tailored products in marine, wellness, gastronomy, and cultural heritage across key destinations including Bali, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Pasuruan, Surabaya, and Labuan Bajo.
Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) records show Taiwan contributed 108,989 visits to Indonesia between January and June 2026, ranking 13th overall, leaving vast commercial upside given Taiwan's 12.6 million Asian outbound trips over the same period.
Tourism leadership and diplomatic officials highlighted the Sales Mission as the core engine for generating direct trade transactions and establishing long-term commercial ties between the two markets. Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism Ni Made Ayu Marthini emphasized the mission's role as the primary catalyst for market expansion.
"The Wonderful Indonesia Sales Mission serves as our central vehicle to elevate trust, strengthen destination competitiveness, and secure concrete transaction value (real pax) between Indonesian and Taiwanese industry partners," she said in Taipei on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as quoted on the ministry's official website.
She noted that the mission effectively positions multi-destination travel offerings directly to key decision-makers. "Through this dedicated platform, we are opening broader avenues for Taiwanese travelers to experience quality tourism offerings across the archipelago beyond traditional hubs," Made added.
Head of KDEI Taipei Arif Sulistiyo affirmed the trade mission's pivotal role in translating market interest into verified bookings.
"This Sales Mission is precisely the structured B2B collaboration needed to convert Taiwan's immense outbound travel potential into tangible arrival growth for Indonesia," Arif noted.
He stressed the importance of maintaining the momentum generated by the Taipei event. "By bringing Indonesian suppliers directly to Taipei, we are establishing the necessary commercial bridges to broaden destination choices and elevate Indonesia's market share in Taiwan," Arif concluded. ***
