RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Administration is trialing a new mobile culinary tourism initiative dubbed Open Dining of Jakarta,"offering passengers a combination of fine dining and panoramic city views aboard a specially converted Transjakarta bus running from Kota Tua to the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno shared his experience during an initial test drive on Thursday, July 23, 2026, noting that while the road surface around Kota Tua still requires smoothing, the ride settles as the bus approaches Harmoni and central Jakarta.

"Kota Tua’s road infrastructure isn't entirely smooth yet. Starting from there, you can't really eat Soto Betawi, it could get messy. It's better suited for steak, pasta, and Dutch-inspired cuisine. But once you enter Harmoni, it feels great," Deputy Governor Rano remarked in Jakarta on Thursday, July 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The service is slated for an official public launch in early August 2026, with planned operating hours from 4.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. local time to take advantage of evening city lighting. City officials remain optimistic about strong public demand, with plans to expand bus fleet numbers following upcoming road improvements and urban revitalization around the Harmoni area.

Managed by municipal transit operator PT Transjakarta, the luxury bus service is designed to cater to both individual diners and private group bookings. ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠Transjakarta President Director Welfizon Yuza outlined that the bus will run two to three departures daily, carrying a maximum capacity of 30 passengers per trip.

The ticket price is set at IDR 500,000 (USD 27.76) per person, which covers a complete course meal consisting of an appetizer, main entree, and dessert.

"Throughout the journey, passengers will enjoy live violin performances as well as a guided narration detailing the history of the passing landmarks and the stories behind the served menu," Welfizon explained. ***
