RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is intensifying its push to draw more visitors from India by showcasing its tourism offerings at the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM), held from February 5–7, 2026, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

“This year, we are targeting potential transactions worth IDR 48 billion, with projections of around 40,000 Indian tourists,” Deputy for Marketing at the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said in a press statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday, February 6, 2026, as quotede by Antara.

At OTM 2026, the Ministry presented 30 tourism industry players, including 20 destination management companies, five travel agencies, two hotel operators, two restaurant operators, and one attraction manager.

Ahead of the exhibition, the ministry also conducted a sales mission in Chennai on February 3, 2026. Chennai is recognized for its large middle- to upper-class professional community, high literacy rates, and strong interest in international travel, spiritual tourism, wellness tourism, and the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.

“With a metropolitan population of more than 11 million and rising purchasing power, Chennai represents a strategic market for Indonesia’s tourism industry,” Marthini noted.

Government data shows that Indian tourist arrivals to Indonesia reached 734,490 in 2025, a 3.42 percent increase from 710,688 in 2024.

Assistant Deputy for International Tourism Marketing, Dedi Ahmad Kurnia, emphasized India’s vast potential. “With a population of around 1.47 billion, India is a highly promising source market for international tourism,” he said.

“Our presence at OTM 2026 is expected to strengthen the branding and image of Wonderful Indonesia as a preferred destination for Indian travelers,” he added.

Indonesia has consistently engaged with India’s tourism market, participating in OTM 2024 with potential transactions of IDR 40.7 billion, and joining SATTE and ITB India in 2025. ***
