Indonesian Air Force Prepares Smoke System for 81st RI Independence Day Air Show

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force is preparing a Smoke System to be used in an aerial demonstration for the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day. The system is prepared to produce red-and-white smoke as part of the aerial attraction during the peak of the August 17th independence commemoration.

The Deputy Chief of Air Staff, Vise Marshal TNI Tedi Rizalihadi, inspected the readiness of the Smoke System at Technical Squadron 021 Lanud Halim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The devices prepared include the Smokewinder and Smoke Trail Pod for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, T-50i Golden Eagle, and Hawk 109/209 aircraft. Meanwhile, the KT-1B Woong Bee aircraft will use the Smoke Generating System to produce red-white smoke during the air demo.

The inspection was conducted to ensure that all equipment prepared by the Field Maintenance Assistance Team (Binharlap) Depohar 10, Depohar 20, Depohar 80, and Dislitbangau are in operational condition and meet aviation safety standards.

The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force emphasized that safety is the top priority in every stage of preparation and execution of the air demonstration. He requested all personnel to work professionally, meticulously, and disciplined so that the TNI AU's performance at the peak of the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia's Independence can proceed safely, smoothly, and optimally.

The day before, on Tuesday (11/8/2026), the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force also reviewed a partial rehearsal as part of the air demo preparation. The rehearsal included the alignment of flight patterns, formations, timing, and coordination among pilots, including the execution of maneuvers in Jakarta's airspace according to the established scenario.

The readiness of the Smoke System and the series of rehearsals are part of the TNI AU's preparations to ensure that the air demonstration during the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence runs safely and optimally, while also presenting a red-and-white themed aerial attraction in the Jakarta sky.
