RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The continuously evolving global geopolitical dynamics are driving the government to strengthen national defense readiness, including thru the enhancement of airspace surveillance and the development of superior defense human resources.
Chief of Staff of the Air Force (KSAU), Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, said the government, thru the Ministry of Defense, continues to strengthen the national air surveillance system by gradually adding radars to cover blind spots in Indonesia.
According to him, strengthening radar is an important part of building a more adaptive air detection and control system to address regional security challenges, including the increasing complexity of air activities and cross-border threats.
"Strengthening radar is an important part of building a more adaptive air detection and control system to the challenges of regional security," Tonny said during a working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Nusantara II Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

In addition to strengthening surveillance technology, the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) also prioritizes the improvement of human resource quality, especially pilots, thru the refinement of recruitment systems and pilot school education.
This step is taken to accelerate the operational readiness of young pilots so that they can meet the demands of modern air operations, which require professionalism, precision, and high adaptability.
Meanwhile, the meeting led by the Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Utut Adianto, also highlighted the importance of strengthening the transformation of the national defense system amid changes in the global strategic environment.
Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) appreciates the commitment of the Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian Military (TNI) in maintaining the sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), including supporting the implementation of Military Operations Other Than War (OMSP) to secure various national strategic programs.
Reinforcing national preparedness is considered an important step to ensure that Indonesia's defense system remains responsive to the development of modern threats while also maintaining the stability and sovereignty of the country.
