RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya - Indonesian tennis player, Meydiana Laviola Reinnamah expressed her pride and emotion after being entrusted as the Indonesian contingent’s flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games at Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya, Sunday, October 4, 2026.

Meydiana led the Indonesian team’s parade wearing a traditional Balinese outfit featuring a red silk kebaya with Prada motifs designed by senior Indonesian designer Ghea Panggabean. The outfit was paired with a white Balinese songket woven sarong.

For Meydiana, the opportunity to carry the Indonesian national flag in front of Asia’s sporting community was one of the most historic moments of her career as an athlete. She was also proud to wear Balinese traditional attire while showcasing Indonesia’s cultural heritage at an international event.

“I am certainly very proud to represent Indonesia by carrying the national flag at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Asian Games. I am also very proud to wear Balinese traditional attire and introduce it to the world,” Meydiana said.

Meydiana said wearing the red-and-white Balinese traditional outfit gave her an additional boost of morale and motivation, particularly as a female athlete entrusted to represent Indonesia at the closing ceremony of Asia’s largest sporting event.

She hopes the experience of serving as a flag bearer will provide new motivation to continue achieving success and delivering her best for Indonesia in international competitions. “Hopefully, this opportunity will further motivate me to give my best for Indonesia in the future,” she said.

Meydiana led a parade consisting of 52 athletes and officials from five sports: judo, hockey, tennis, archery, and wrestling. The ceremony also marked the end of Indonesia’s campaign at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with the Indonesian contingent securing five gold, 11 silver, and 23 bronze medals, meeting the target set for the Games.
