RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya - Indonesia secured another gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya through women’s speed climber Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi. Desak clocked 6.062 seconds, securing Indonesia’s fourth gold medal and bringing Indonesia to its target of four gold medals.
Desak’s time also set new Asian Games and Asian records. She broke the previous record of 6.07 seconds, which she had also set at the 2026 Asian Championships in Meishan, China, in April.
Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, praised Desak for once again demonstrating her quality and consistency at the Asian level. He said the achievement demonstrated the ability of Indonesian athletes to compete at the highest level in Asia.
“Alhamdulillah, Indonesia has won another gold medal. This is Indonesia’s fourth gold medal at these Asian Games, which means we have achieved the target of four gold medals we set,” Erick said on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Erick also praised the Indonesian Sport Climbing Federation (FPTI), coaches, officials, and everyone involved in Desak’s continued development. He said the achievement was the result of consistent and structured athlete development.
“Her time was extraordinary. A time of 6.062 seconds not only made Desak the champion and secured Indonesia’s gold medal, but also set new Asian Games and Asian records,” Erick said.
Although Indonesia has reached its target of four gold medals, Erick stressed that the national team’s campaign is not over. Several sports still have opportunities to add to Indonesia’s medal tally, including the men’s speed climbing event, before the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya conclude.
