Kemenpora Boosts Regional Para-Sports Development through Training

RRI.CO.ID, Blitar - The Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) is strengthening an inclusive sports ecosystem in the regions through the Training of Trainers (ToT) for Para-Sports Activators in Blitar Regency, East Java. The training was held at Puri Perdana Hotel in Blitar on September 22-23, 2026.

About 115 participants from Blitar Regency, Blitar City, Tulungagung, Trenggalek, and Kediri attended the training. The participants included sports coaches, athletes, former athletes with disabilities, special education teachers, and teachers from inclusive schools.

Giatno, a representative of the organizing committee, said the training was aimed at preparing human resources who can help promote sports participation among people with disabilities.

"The activity aims to prepare coaches, former athletes, and teachers to become sports development activators within communities of people with disabilities," Giatno said in a press release on Monday, September 28, 2026.

To strengthen the training materials, Kemenpora involved experts and academics from Sebelas Maret University (UNS) and the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC). The training covered knowledge and coaching techniques for para-sports.

Secretary of the Blitar Regency Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism Office, Dodot Darudono, welcomed Blitar's selection as the host. He said para-sports are an integral part of national sports development and contribute to improving independence, confidence, and quality of life.

"Para-sports are an integral part of national sports development, where every citizen has the same right to have opportunities to grow and develop," Dodot said.

Meanwhile, Yuslan, a Senior Policy Analyst at the Assistant Deputy for Special Sports Services, who represented the Acting Assistant Deputy, urged participants to remain active after completing the training. He hoped they would become drivers, mentors, and sources of inspiration for para-sports development in their respective regions.

"Blitar Regency is the third and final stop in this year's series of Training of Trainers for Para-Sports Activators in East Java, following sessions previously held in Mojokerto and Kediri City," Yuslan said.

He added that Kemenpora would monitor the activities of the sports activators in the field as part of its continued support for para-sports development.
