Jasmine Claims BMX Racing Bronze at Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian BMX rider Jasmine Azzahra Setyobudi won a bronze medal in the women's BMX Racing event at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games after going through a relatively short preparation period.

Jasmine finished third with a time of 34.932 seconds. Japan's Sae Hatakeyama claimed gold in 33.401 seconds, while China's Wanyi Liao took silver in 34.500 seconds.

"My preparation for these Asian Games was not long. There were several setbacks, including surgery. I only resumed training in April, then after one month of training I crashed, started again and crashed again. Alhamdulillah, I was able to retain the bronze medal," Jasmine said after the race at the Nagoya Velodrome BMX Race Course on Monday, as quoted by Antara.

In the qualification round, Jasmine competed in Heat 2 and maintained third place across all three motos.

She clocked 35.339 seconds in Moto 1 to finish third before improving to 34.736 seconds in Moto 2 while remaining in third place.

In Moto 3, Jasmine posted a time of 34.862 seconds and again finished third in the heat.

In the same heat, fellow Indonesian rider Amellya Nur Sifa delivered an impressive performance, finishing second in Moto 1 and Moto 2 before taking first place in Moto 3.

Sifa recorded 34.886 seconds in Moto 1 before improving to 34.492 seconds in Moto 2. In Moto 3, she improved to 34.392 seconds, the fastest result in the heat. "In Moto 1, I raced in the same moto as Sifa, but we still played it safe because we first had to qualify for the final," Jasmine said.

"In the final, Sifa and I could not take the same starting position, so there had to be some space between us. Sifa chose the third position and selected a lane closer to the middle, so I had to take the remaining spot."

The performances of the two Indonesian riders highlighted the tight competition in the women's BMX Racing event. Jasmine ultimately secured the bronze medal with a time of 34.932 seconds.

"Alhamdulillah, but the struggle was extraordinary," said Jasmine, who also won a bronze medal in the women's BMX Racing event at the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games.

Meanwhile, in the men's event, Indonesian rider Rifki Fasya Ahsana finished fourth in 32.980 seconds.

The men's BMX Racing gold medal went to Japan's Asuma Nakai in 30.103 seconds, followed by fellow Japanese rider Hyoga Kiuchi in 30.583 seconds. China's Haochao Lin claimed bronze in 32.947 seconds. ***
