Indonesia Wins Two Titles at SEABA U17 3x3 Championship 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Batam – Indonesia’s U17 3x3 men’s and women’s national basketball teams won two Southeast Asian titles at the SEABA U17 3x3 Championship 2026 at HiTest Arena Batam on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The men’s team secured the title after defeating Malaysia 20-11 in the final, while the women’s team beat Thailand 21-8.

For Indonesia, the achievement marked a historic milestone, as it was the first time the country had won the titles in both the men’s and women’s categories since the championship was first held in Singapore in 2025. The women’s team also successfully defended the title they won in the inaugural edition. They recorded a perfect run, winning all six games from the group stage through the final.

Meanwhile, the men’s team improved on their fourth-place finish in the previous edition. This year, they won six of the seven games they played from the group stage onward.

Chairman of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PERBASI), Budisatrio Djiwandono, praised the players’ efforts and reminded them to use the achievement as motivation for upcoming competitions. “You were outstanding. Thank you for fighting hard and making Indonesia proud. However, this success should not make us forget that the journey is still long. There are still more championships ahead for us to conquer together,” he said.

Secretary General of PERBASI Nirmala Dewi also congratulated both teams for bringing home the titles. “Congratulations to the U17 3x3 men’s and women’s national basketball teams. We are proud that you have made Indonesia proud. Winning two Southeast Asian titles at the SEABA U17 3x3 Championship 2026 is a great achievement,” she said.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, also congratulated the athletes and encouraged them to continue developing their potential to achieve success at the global level. “Congratulations to the U17 3x3 men’s and women’s national basketball teams for winning two titles at the SEABA U17 3x3 Championship 2026. This is a proud achievement and shows that Indonesian 3x3 basketball has great potential to continue bringing Indonesia’s name to the world stage,” Erick said.

The women’s team consisted of Joanne Giovanni, Hannah Harsita, Chloe Cung, and Adinda Lubna. Meanwhile, the men’s squad featured Darell Alderich, Fakhrizal Firdaus, Rafky Abqary, and Bryan Che Kang.

Both teams were coached by Wahyu Widayat Jati, assisted by Raymond Shariputra. Manager of the U17 3x3 men’s and women’s national teams, Mohamad Shalahuddin, praised the players’ determination throughout the championship.

Coach Wahyu Widayat Jati said consistency and trust in the system were the keys to Indonesia’s success in winning both titles. “Consistency and trust the system. Focus on playing one game at a time, don’t be overconfident, start from defense,” Wahyu said.

The SEABA U17 3x3 Championship 2026 was held on September 19-20, 2026, at HiTest Arena Batam. The second edition of the championship was attended by six countries: hosts Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore.
