RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s women’s volleyball team booked their place in the Asian Games 2026 quarterfinals after a commanding 3–0 victory over Nepal in Group A action at Park Arena Komaki, Aichi, Japan, on Thursday, September 17.
The straight‑set win (25–12, 25–21, 25–20) guarantees Indonesia a top‑two finish in Group A, which features only three teams: Indonesia, Japan, and Nepal. Nepal’s campaign ended after consecutive defeats to Japan and Indonesia.
Indonesia will now face host nation Japan on Friday (September 18) in a decisive clash to determine the group winner.
The women’s volleyball competition at the Asian Games involves 14 teams divided into four groups (A–D), with Groups A and B each containing three teams.
Against Nepal, Indonesia displayed dominance from the outset, Antara reported. The team registered a 47 percent success rate in spikes, outpacing Nepal’s 35 percent, and proved superior at the net with 24 percent blocking efficiency compared to Nepal’s nine percent.
Leading the scoring for Indonesia was outside hitter Mediol Stiovanny Yoku with 14 points, followed by Ersandrina Devega Salsabilah (13 points) and Chelsa Berliana Nurtomo (12 points). ***
