Brimob Wind Tunnel Hosts 20 Nations in Kapolri Cup II 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Cikeas - The Wind Tunnel of the Indonesian National Police's Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) at the Soemardhi Building in Cikeas, Bogor Regency, has been transformed into a world-class aerospace sports stage. A total of 382 participants grouped into 156 teams are taking part in the International Open Indoor Skydiving Championships Kapolri Cup II 2026, held from September 17–20, 2026.

The championship was officially opened by Deputy Chief of Police, Police Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, representing the Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, as the Patron of the Police Sports Committee, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

Kapolri Cup II is not only a national event but a truly international championship. A total of 89 foreign athletes and officials from nine countries are participating, China, Japan, Germany, South Korea, Malaysia, Poland, Russia, Singapore, and Thailand. The international atmosphere is further strengthened by the presence of 20 international judges from 12 countries. When combined based on the country of origin of athletes, officials, and judges, a total of 20 countries are involved in the entire event, making it one of the largest indoor skydiving competitions in Asia.

The competition features four main disciplines: Formation Skydiving (FS), Vertical Formation Skydiving (VFS), Dynamic, and Freestyle. Each discipline tests teamwork, precision, speed, and individual creativity in a vertical wind tunnel that simulates free-fall conditions. This variety not only showcases technical skills but also pushes the artistic and athletic boundaries of indoor skydiving as a modern aerospace sport.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Chief of Police, said that the development of Indonesian indoor skydiving in recent years has shown proud achievements. At the FAI Indoor Skydiving 2024 series in Macau, Brimob Polri athletes who strengthened the Indonesian team won silver and bronze medals at the Asian Championships and secured fifth place at the FAI World Cup.

“This achievement shows the real contribution of Polri athletes to Indonesia's indoor skydiving achievements at the Asian and world levels,” he said, adding that the spirit continued at Kapolri Cup I 2024, where the Brimob Corps team and the Gegana Women's Police team achieved success in the international class.

According to the Deputy Chief of Police, Kapolri Cup II is expected to be more than just a competition; it should become a driving force for athlete development and increased competitiveness of Indonesian aerospace sports. “Kapolri Cup II is expected to be an accelerator for athlete development, breaking new records, and strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian aerospace on the global stage,” he stated. He also urged all athletes to uphold sportsmanship and mutual respect, while instructing the organizing committee and security personnel to ensure all activities run professionally, safely, orderly, and smoothly.

This view was echoed by the Chairman of the Indonesian Parachuting Committee, Irvan Zuladry, who expressed his appreciation for the support of the National Police in organizing the international championship. According to him, the development of indoor skydiving requires a wider competition space so that athlete development can run consistently.

“The development of parachuting sports, including indoor skydiving, shows that public interest and its competitions need to continue to get space to grow,” he said. He hopes that the Kapolri Cup can become part of the effort to build a regular and sustainable competition in the Asian region.

The series of international competitions will then continue with the 2nd FAI Asian Indoor Skydiving Championships 2026, which will also be held at the same venue. The existence of the Brimob Polri Wind Tunnel in Cikeas is expected to further strengthen the ecosystem of Indonesian indoor skydiving sports, both as a place for training, coaching, and international-level competition.

“The success of the event is not only measured by the smooth running of the matches, but also by our ability to make this activity a momentum to strengthen development, expand networks, and improve the quality of Indonesian aerospace sports in the future,” the Deputy Chief of Police conveyed.
