RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s road to the Asian Games Aichi‑Nagoya 2026 has entered its final stage as the National Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) officially confirming a contingent of 430 athletes from 35 sports, slightly reduced from the initial list of 432.
“With bismillah (in the name of Allah), the Indonesian contingent is hereby officially confirmed," NOC Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari said at the inauguration ceremony held at Wisma Serbaguna Gelora Bung Karno in Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Chef de Mission Todotua Pasaribu explained that the adjustment followed the Delegation Registration Meeting (DRM) process. “Team Indonesia will be strengthened by 430 athletes and 145 officials from 35 sports,” he said, noting that the final list excluded two athletes, though their names and disciplines were not disclosed.
Beyond athletes and officials, Indonesia is deploying 78 support staff, including doctors, masseurs, physiotherapists, and headquarters personnel, to ensure the contingent’s readiness. Preparations have involved coordination with team managers, visits to sports federations, and logistical planning.
Some athletes have already departed for Japan. The basketball and fencing teams were among the first to leave, rerouting their journey through Surabaya, East Java, and Singapore due to disruptions caused by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.
Todotua emphasized that the CdM team will oversee non‑technical needs such as accommodation, transport, and support services so athletes can remain focused on competition.
The Asian Games Aichi‑Nagoya 2026 will run from September 19 to October 4, with Indonesia aiming to balance performance targets and smooth operations despite early travel challenges. ***
