RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Janice Tjen made a positive start to her US Open 2026 doubles campaign, teaming up with Canadian Leylah Fernandez to secure a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory over Isabelle Haverlag/Nika Radisic in New York on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The Indonesia-Canada pair controlled the match after briefly trading the opening two games with the Netherlands-Slovenia duo, Antara reported. Janice/Fernandez then won four consecutive games to take a 5-1 lead before closing out the first set 6-1.
Their dominance continued in the second set as they broke Haverlag/Radisic’s serve to lead 1-0 and held their own serve for a 2-0 advantage.
Haverlag/Radisic narrowed the gap to 1-2, but Janice/Fernandez responded by winning four straight games to secure another 6-1 set and complete the victory. Janice/Fernandez won 53 of 74 total points, or 71.6 percent, while their opponents collected only 21 points.
The Indonesia-Canada pair was particularly effective on serve, winning 28 of 31 points, or 90.3 percent. They also recorded two aces and committed no double faults. Haverlag/Radisic won only 18 of 43 service points, recorded one ace and committed five double faults.
Janice/Fernandez also dominated the return game, winning 13 of 26 points on first serves and 12 of 17 points on second serves. The pair created eight break-point opportunities and converted five, while Haverlag/Radisic did not earn a single break-point chance.
The victory gives Janice a positive start in the doubles competition after her singles campaign ended in the first round with a 2-6, 2-6 defeat to fifth seed Mirra Andreeva. ***
