Indonesia's Aldila Sutjiadi Secures Doubles Quarterfinals at Cincinnati Open

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Aldila Sutjiadi advanced to the 2026 Cincinnati Open women’s doubles quarterfinals with New Zealand partner Erin Routliffe after a dominant straight-set victory on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Jakarta time, strengthening Indonesia’s presence in the WTA event.

The seventh-seeded pair defeated Japan’s Eri Aoyama and Taiwan’s Yafan Liang 6-3, 6-2 in the round of 16, according to the WTA. The match lasted one hour and 14 minutes.

Aldila/Routliffe started the match in a closely contested battle, with both pairs holding serve to make it 2-2, Antara reported.

The Indonesian-New Zealand pair then broke their opponents’ serve in the fifth game to take a 3-2 lead. They maintained the advantage through the remainder of the set and closed it out 6-3.

In the second set, Aoyama/Liang opened by breaking serve. Aldila/Routliffe responded immediately with a break of their own before taking control of the match. They extended their lead to 5-1.

Although Aoyama/Liang won one more game to reduce the deficit to 5-2, Aldila/Routliffe sealed the match by winning the second set 6-2. Aldila/Routliffe were more effective in converting opportunities, taking six of 10 break points, while Aoyama/Liang converted two of three.

The Indonesian-New Zealand pair also held an advantage in service points, winning 65.9 percent compared with 47.2 percent for their opponents. Overall, Aldila/Routliffe won 57 of the 97 points played.

In the quarterfinals, Aldila/Routliffe will face the winner of the round-of-16 match between Barbora Krejcikova/Gabriela Dabrowski and Linda Noskova/Marie Bouzkova. ***
