Janice lost in straight sets, 1-6, 6-7 (5-7), according to Cincinnati Open records. She advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic in the previous round.

Despite the straight-set defeat, Janice mounted a strong challenge in the second set, extending the match to one hour and 42 minutes, Antara reported.

Andreeva dominated the opening set, taking a 2-0 lead before Janice reduced the deficit to 1-2. Janice was unable to maintain the momentum, however, as Andreeva continued to control the match and closed out the first set 6-1.

Janice briefly led 4-3 in the tiebreak, but Andreeva raised her level and won the tiebreak 7-5 to take the second set 7-6. ***
