Indonesia's Morgan Holindo Keeps World Karting Hopes Alive

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian young karting talent Morgan Holindo Sonmoahi moved closer to a potential World Karting Championship appearance in Italy after winning Round 5 of the Eshark Rok Cup Indonesia in Sentul, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

The Dewa United Motorsport driver delivered a consistent performance before finishing first after holding off strong pressure from one of his closest rivals, Michael Vino Satrio.

"The key to winning a race is staying calm and focused. That is what I tried to do until I achieved this result," Morgan said in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday, August 10, as quoted by Antara.

Morgan had shown promising form since the heat session and finished first in Sunday morning’s pre-final. In the final, Morgan immediately took the lead after the start. Michael Vino applied pressure from the opening laps and continued to follow closely.

Morgan maintained his racing rhythm while preventing his rival from finding an opportunity to overtake, eventually crossing the finish line in first place.

The victory keeps Morgan in contention for a ticket to the World Karting Championship in Italy.

The sixth-grade student at Tzu Chi School has made competing at the world championship one of his main targets during the Eshark Rok Cup Indonesia season.

The race for the ticket will continue, with one final round of the 2026 Eshark Rok Cup Indonesia scheduled for September. The final round will determine whether Morgan advances to the international stage.

The MiniRok Eshark Rok Cup Indonesia Round 5 is a national karting competition for young drivers, held at Sentul International Karting Circuit, Bogor, as part of the qualification race for the World Karting Championship in Italy. ***
