RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian lead climbing specialist Putra Tri Ramadani has successfully secured a spot in the men's lead semifinal stage at the 2026 IFSC World Climbing Series in Chamonix, France, after breaking into the top 24 during Saturday's rigorous qualification rounds.

The breakthrough keeps Indonesia's podium ambitions alive in the technical discipline, anchoring a highly successful weekend for the national climbing delegation across both lead and speed categories.

According to official data released by the international climbing governing body, Putra, affectionately known by his moniker "Srondeng", clinched 12th place in the overall qualification standings with a structural score of 13.32.

The highly competitive men's lead qualifiers were spearheaded by Austrian powerhouse Jakob Schubert, who topped the table with a dominant score of 1.58, followed closely by Spain's Alberto Ginés López in second place with 3.54.

However, it was a bittersweet qualification round for the rest of the Indonesian lead contingent. In the men's sector, Raviandi Ramadhan narrowly missed the semifinal cut, finishing in 33rd place with a score of 29.52.

Similarly, Indonesia's sole women's lead representative, Tsany Alma Ariella, saw her campaign cut short in the opening phase, bowing out in 49th place with a score of 48.64.

Srondeng's qualification extends a historic individual run during the 2026 international circuit, where he has single-handedly altered Indonesia's historical landscape in lead climbing, a discipline traditionally dominated by European athletes.

Earlier this season, Srondeng etched his name into the history books as the first-ever Indonesian climber to win a World Climbing Series gold medal in the lead discipline during the Prague series, before backing up that performance with a stellar fourth-place finish at the subsequent Innsbruck series.

The Indonesian trailblazer is scheduled to return to the technical wall for the semifinal round on Sunday afternoon, July 12, 2026, local time, with the high-stakes final event slated to take place in the early hours of Monday morning, July 13.

Srondeng's individual success mirrors an explosive weekend for the Central Board of the Indonesian Rock-Climbing Federation (PP FPTI), which deployed a total of 10 athletes to Chamonix.

Concurrently in the high-velocity speed climbing discipline, the Indonesian national squad delivered a dominant performance by launching five elite sprinters into the final round of 16 knockout brackets.

In the men's speed event, Olympic champion Veddriq Leonardo, Aditya Tri Syahria, and Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi advanced in 6th, 7th, and 9th places respectively, while Raharjati Nursamsa narrowly missed out in 18th.

On the women's speed side, powerhouse duo Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Kadek Adi Asih confidently punched their tickets to the finals by finishing 6th and 11th, though veteran speedster Rajiah Sallsabillah missed the cutoff. The high-octane speed finals concluded in the early hours of Sunday morning. ***
