RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s rising tennis star Aldila Sutjiadi is sharpening her form on North America’s hard courts as part of a carefully planned buildup to the US Open, her team’s main target this season.

Coach Christopher Rungkat emphasized that the “US Swing” series is designed to maximize Aldila’s readiness for the year’s final Grand Slam. After opening the stretch at the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington, Aldila is now competing at the National Bank Open in Toronto before heading to Cincinnati and Monterrey.

“This is the second week of the US Swing after Washington. We still have Cincinnati and Monterrey before the US Open. The ultimate goal remains performing at our best in New York,” Christo said on Sunday, August 9, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He added that while the US Open is the priority, Aldila is determined to deliver strong results at every stop, especially at the WTA 1000 events in Toronto and Cincinnati.

Aldila arrived in Toronto with high confidence after clinching the WTA 500 title in Washington alongside New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe. That victory, her second WTA 500 trophy of the season following Bad Homburg in June, provided crucial momentum heading into the US Open.

Her campaign in Toronto began impressively, as Aldila and Routliffe ousted fourth seeds and reigning Wimbledon champions Kristina Mladenovic/Hanyu Guo 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-5 in the opening round.

The pair will next face Olivia Nicholls/Tereza Mihalikova in the round of 16 early Monday, August 10, Jakarta time.

The Toronto win extends Aldila’s strong run in 2026, which also includes a quarterfinal appearance in mixed doubles at Wimbledon with Argentina’s Guido Andreozzi. With confidence and consistency on her side, Aldila’s US Open preparations are firmly on track. ***
