Aldila/Erin Reached US Open Quarterfinals After Three-Set Win

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi advanced to the US Open 2026 women’s doubles quarterfinals with New Zealand's Erin Routliffe, strengthening the country’s presence at the Grand Slam after a hard-fought three-set victory in New York on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The ninth-seeded Aldila/Erin defeated Hungary’s Anna Bondar and Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in one hour and 57 minutes, according to the WTA.

Aldila/Erin started aggressively in the opening set and applied pressure to their opponents. The Indonesia-New Zealand pair capitalized on break opportunities to build an early advantage before closing out the set 6-2, Antara reported.

Bondar/Kalinina responded strongly in the second set. Both pairs held serve through a tight contest until 4-4 before Bondar/Kalinina gained momentum by breaking Aldila/Erin’s serve and securing the set 6-4.

Entering the deciding set, Aldila/Erin regained their best form and quickly moved 4-0 ahead after breaking their opponents twice. Bondar/Kalinina reduced the deficit to 2-4, but Aldila/Erin halted the comeback by winning the next two games to seal a 6-2 victory and secure their place in the quarterfinals.

Aldila/Erin also held the advantage in total points, winning 92 compared with 77 for Bondar/Kalinina. They converted four of six break-point opportunities, while their opponents converted only one of three.

In the quarterfinals, Aldila/Erin will face American pair Ashlyn Krueger and Robin Montgomery, who defeated German-Turkish pair Tatjana Maria and Zeynep Sonmez 6-3, 6-2. The quarterfinal match is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, morning, Jakarta time. ***
