RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is aiming to draw 145,000 spectators to the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, a move expected to boost tourism, generate greater economic activity, and strengthen the country's position as a global motorsport destination.

The MotoGP race will take place on October 9-11, 2026, at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), with the target representing a 15.7 percent increase from the 140,324 spectators recorded at last year's event.

ITDC Operations Director and Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia Chairman Troy Warokka announced the target during a coordination meeting with West Nusa Tenggara Police Chief Inspector General Kalingga Rendra Raharja in Mataram on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

During the meeting, ITDC outlined preparations for the event, including venue management, visitor access and mobility, cross-functional operational readiness, and a series of destination activities designed to enhance the overall visitor experience.

"We are strengthening coordination as the scale of the Indonesia MotoGP continues to grow each year," Troy said on Wednesday, August 5, as quoted by Antara, adding that the Indonesia MotoGP has generated a national economic multiplier effect worth IDR 4.96 trillion.

The event has also made a significant contribution to the regional economy. By 2025, it had attracted IDR 713 billion in new investment to The Mandalika tourism area.

MotoGP 2025 created more than 3,000 local jobs in West Nusa Tenggara, with around 67 percent of workers coming from Central Lombok Regency. The event also involved 202 culinary and handicraft micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), alongside more than 600 MSMEs operating around the circuit and Kuta Mandalika.

Hotel occupancy reached 100 percent in The Mandalika area and averaged 90 percent in Mataram during previous editions, while 44 additional flights to West Nusa Tenggara were added to accommodate increased tourist demand.

With the event continuing to expand, security remains a key priority. During the meeting, the West Nusa Tenggara Police reviewed the 2025 MotoGP operations to refine security plans for 2026, focusing on inter-agency coordination, venue protection, crowd management, traffic control, and operational preparedness. ***
