RRI.CO.ID, Bogor - The Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI) targets gold for men’s beach volleyball team and a top-five finish for the women’s volleyball team at the 2026 Asian Games.
The team’s send-off was led by PBVSI Chairman Imam Sudjarwo at the Jenderal Polisi Kunarto Volleyball Training Center, Sentul, on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Bintang Akbar/Sofyan Rachman Efendi are expected to win gold in men’s beach volleyball. Another pair, Imam Ahmad Faisal/Fairuz Bayhaqly, are also targeted to compete for the top position.
"Our target is gold. Hopefully, Bintang and Sofyan, with their great experience, can win and bring home the gold," Imam said after the athletes’ send-off ceremony.
Bintang Akbar is determined to meet the target. The goal has motivated him to perform at his best at the 2026 Asian Games. "We need to have more variations in our game. We must work hard against Qatar, Iran and Thailand," Bintang said.
Team captain Medi Yoku is motivated to deliver her best performance. She wants to give her all with her teammates to make Indonesia proud. "I hope the younger players can play freely and enjoy the matches. Most importantly, we gain valuable experience at the Asian Games," she said.
Indonesian women’s volleyball team will face Nepal on Thursday, September 17. Caca Devega and her teammates will then face hosts Japan on Friday, September 18. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
