RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s young weightlifters are set to test their strength against Asia’s best as the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI) fields three male athletes for the 2026 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from August 7–14.

Quoting Antara, the lifters are Alvin Saputra (East Java) and Kevin Andrian Ramadhan (Riau), both competing in the 60kg class, and Leonard Imanuel Aipassa Suabey (Papua) in the 65kg class. Alvin and Leonard will compete in the youth category, while Kevin enters the junior division.

Alvin, born March 14, 2010, is listed in Group B of the 60kg youth class with an entry total of 240kg, scheduled for Saturday, August 8, at 12:00 local time.

On the same day, Kevin will compete in Group A of the 60kg junior class at 14:00, with an entry total of 270kg, facing lifters from India, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan.

Leonard is slated for Group A of the 65kg youth class on Sunday, August 9, at 16:30, with the highest Indonesian entry total of 285kg.

The championship will feature 305 lifters from 30 countries, including 167 men and 138 women. Host nation Uzbekistan is fielding 36 athletes.

Kevin is Indonesia’s most experienced contender, having won silver in the clean and jerk (127kg, 56kg youth class) at the 2025 edition in Astana, Kazakhstan.

All three lifters also competed at the 2025 World Youth and Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, where Alvin placed fifth (49kg, 187kg), Kevin sixth (55kg, 223kg), and Leonard seventh (61kg, 238kg).

The Indonesian team will be accompanied by coaches Muhammad Rusli and Jayang Supriatna, along with masseur Gigantika Nur Pratama. ***
