Indonesian Muay Thai Athlete Wins Historic Silver at IFMA World Championships

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Chairman Marciano Norman said the achievements of the national Muay Thai team at the 2026 IFMA World Championships highlight the significant progress of Indonesian Muay Thai on the international stage.

The Indonesian-Thai fighter delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament.

All of his victories were secured via technical knockout (TKO), beginning with a win over a Malaysian opponent in the preliminary round, followed by victories against fighters from Russia and Finland in the quarterfinals and semifinals.

“This extraordinary achievement on the world stage is a source of great pride for Indonesia,” Marciano said.

He added that Elijah’s results reflect the effectiveness of the athlete development program implemented by the Indonesian Muaythai Association (PB MI) under the leadership of La Nyalla Mahmud Mattalitti.

Support from the East Java Provincial Muaythai Association, the coaching staff, and other stakeholders was also considered crucial in shaping the athlete’s abilities.

Marciano hopes that this historic achievement will inspire other Indonesian Muay Thai athletes. He encouraged them to continue improving their discipline, maintain consistency in training, and prepare for upcoming international competitions to bring honor to Indonesia on the world stage. ***
