RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s mixed doubles team Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu saw their campaign at the Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) 2026 come to an end in the round of 16, following a hard-fought clash against South Korea’s Kim Jae Hyeon and Jang Ha Jeong at the Ningbo Olympic Center, China, on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
The seventh-seeded pair pushed their opponents to three games but ultimately lost 21-23, 22-20, 10-21. Despite their efforts, Jafar and Felisha admitted that the Korean duo’s tight defensive structure proved difficult to penetrate. Felisha explained that their initial attacking plan faltered as Kim and Jang quickly shifted tactics.
“We wanted to play aggressively and avoid long rallies, but they changed their approach and lifted the shuttle more often, refusing to enter our pattern. That made things difficult,” she said after the match, as quoted by Antara.
Jafar echoed her view, noting that the Koreans’ ability to block and counter disrupted their attacking rhythm. Looking ahead, he stressed the need for greater consistency. “I must play more consistently, avoid unnecessary mistakes, and add more power, especially with the slower shuttle conditions here,” he said.
Although disappointed, Felisha expressed gratitude for completing the match smoothly, even if the result fell short of expectations. “We’re thankful we could finish the match well. The chance to win was actually quite big, but we couldn’t capitalize,” she reflected.
The loss highlights the gap between potential and execution for Jafar and Felisha, who entered the tournament as seeded contenders but struggled to deliver the level of play expected. Both athletes remain determined to sharpen their performance in upcoming BWF events, aiming to turn lessons learned in Ningbo into stronger results on the international stage. ***
