RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia’s mixed doubles shuttlers Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja saw their run at the Taipei Open 2026 end in the semifinals on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Their spirited performance against Japan’s Yuta Watanabe/Maya Taguchi, however, reflected growing competitiveness on the international stage.
Competing at the Taipei Arena in Taiwan, Rehan/Gloria lost in straight games 17-21, 20-22 after 41 minutes of play. The Japanese pair controlled the opening game, racing to an 11-4 lead at the interval before closing it out 21-17, Antara reported.
The second game, however, showcased Indonesia’s resilience. Trailing 11-5 at the break, Rehan/Gloria fought back to level at 17-17. They even edged ahead 20-19, standing just one point away from forcing a decider.
Yet Watanabe/Taguchi held their nerve, winning three consecutive points to seal the match 22-20 and secure their place in the final.
Despite the defeat, the result marked another encouraging step for Rehan/Gloria, who reached the last four of a BWF World Tour Super 300 event. Their ability to push one of Asia’s strongest pairs to the brink highlighted their progress since returning to the circuit. ***
